Frequently Asked Questions
The questions teams ask us most often before they decide.
- What exactly goes into a scrim report?
- A short, structured entry after each scrim: the result, what worked, what didn't, and any tactical takeaways — logged in a couple of minutes while it's fresh, not reconstructed from memory a week later. Once you've got more than a handful, they're searchable by opponent, map, or date.
- What do "tactical notes" actually cover?
- Your team's current strategies, setups, and standing agreements — the things that would otherwise only exist in whoever came up with them. Notes are versioned, so anyone can see what changed and when, and a new player can read the current state in minutes instead of getting re-briefed in every voice call.
- What happens to our tactical knowledge if a captain or coach leaves?
- It stays. That's the actual reason CompeteSync exists — season history, scrim reports, and tactical notes live on the team's account, not in one person's head or DMs. A new captain or coach picks up exactly where the last one left off, instead of the team relearning things it already knew.
- Do we need the whole team to use it, or just the coach or captain?
- Realistically, it works best when whoever runs practice or calls the shots owns the habit of logging scrims and updating notes — CompeteSync records what you give it, it doesn't chase anyone for input. The rest of the team benefits just by reading it, without needing to log in themselves.
- Is this only for league teams, or also for casual teams?
- Both. The core problem — knowledge getting lost when people leave the team — affects league teams with a fixed schedule just as much as casual teams that are organized more loosely. The Free tier is deliberately built so a casual team with no budget can keep using the core features indefinitely.
- How does pricing work if our roster changes during the season?
- Mid-season roster changes are the norm for esports teams, not the exception — pricing is designed so that a roster change doesn't automatically trigger extra cost or administrative overhead. The exact details on seats and tiers are on the pricing page.
- Do we have to stop using Discord?
- No. CompeteSync is deliberately built to run alongside Discord, not as a replacement for it. Discord stays what it is for day-to-day communication — CompeteSync takes over the storage and structure for everything that would otherwise get buried in chat history over time.
- What happens to our data if we stop using CompeteSync?
- Your data belongs to your team, not to us. If you stop using CompeteSync, you can export your data before access ends, and we delete account data after the contract ends within the timeframes stated in our privacy policy, unless legal retention obligations require otherwise. Details are in our Privacy Policy and Terms.
- Is CompeteSync live yet — can we sign up today?
- Not fully — we're working closely with 12 Founding Teams this season to get the product right before opening up more broadly. Every pricing tier currently routes to the Founding Teams application rather than a live signup; apply there and we'll get back to you.
- Why does CompeteSync only support CS2 right now?
- We're starting with CS2 for the Founding Teams program: schedule, scrim reports, and tactical notes are built around how a CS2 team actually works — maps, executes, demo review. We'd rather get that right for one game than half-build it for five. More games follow as the pilot grows. If you play something else, apply anyway and tell us what game — that's exactly the kind of input the Founding Teams program exists for.
